The Genius Sparkk Secondary School Movie Contest is the premier destination for talented high school filmmakers from all over Africa.

Our Mission is to provide an opportunity for talented students in any area of film making to unleash, develop and showcase their talents. This is in the bid to prepare them as future film makers. This is the maiden edition, and we are super excited to be a part of those making history in Africa. We offer a grand stage for the next generation of talented filmmakers where they can: screen their amazing creations, learn from top industry professionals, connect with the latest technology, explore myriad higher education opportunities, receive fantastic prizes, and perhaps most importantly, create a community of shared passions and lifelong relationships.

Guidelines

What you should know before you enter.

Rules for Submission

Please read all the rules and requirements before submitting your project:

Rules For Submission

1. The film’s director(s) must be a Secondary School Student as at when the film was made.

2. Only films submitted on or before the priority deadline will be considered for screening.

4. There are no limits on how many people can work to support the team on the film. However, only ten students can be in the movie.

5. All copyrighted material used in your submission, including but not limited to music, images, titles, and footage, MUST be properly licensed. You must have permission and/or the proper rights to all content submitted. Please contact us if you are unsure.

6. Movies that contain nudity, gratuitous violence, excessive profanity, and/or derogatory and offensive intent will not be considered.

7. If you choose to submit with a Vimeo or YouTube link, we may request a downloadable link for your film if selected. You must send this link in order for your film to be screened.

8. The time limit (or page limit) for all submissions is 10 minutes.

9. Only Secondary School Students from JS 1 to SS 2 are eligible for this contest

10. A School will register as a team. Team members can be from any class.

11. A school can only have 10 characters in a film.

To be eligible for the 2024 Geniussparkk contest, you need to meet the following:

1. Only students from J.S 1 to S.S 2 are qualified to participate.
2. Movie should not exceed 10 minutes
3. Registration will be as a school and not as individuals
4. Registration is N10,000NGN per School
5. All plays will be written based on the theme.

N300,000 (Best Movie)
Teacher - N30,000
All participating student will receive a certificate of participation.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
